‘I wanted to share with you about one of our Year 2 boys. He has been a rather reluctant writer (as boys often are!) but since your visit, he has gone home and written two stories (books he calls them!) His mum is over the moon and so are we!’

- Julia Evans, Headteacher at Winkfield St Mary’s, Bracknell

Author Visits

Who can book an author visit?

Alison is currently taking bookings for primary schools. If you'd like to request an author visit, please contact Alison at alisonhsimpson@hotmail.com to discuss further.

How much is an author visit?

Free of charge on the basis the schools promote the visit and book.

What age group is an author visit suitable for?

For ages 0-7, so reception, and year groups 1 and 2.

How long does it last?

Sessions can be tailored to the age group. The suggestion is 30 - 60 minutes with a reading of the story, some questions, the song and a challenge around story ideas. The ideal group size is around 30.

What's included?

An introduction about the real Bodhi, a reading of the book, followed by questions about the story, and follow up questions around kindness, bravery and our talents (dependent on age group). In advance of the session, Alison will email colouring and activity sheets that can be printed for the children to do after the session, and a link to the song! A pre-order form will be provided in advance in case parents would like to order a signed copy of the book.

Can Bodhi come too?

Unfortunately Bodhi is quite anxious due to his history and therefore he's unable to attend visits.

‘The children loved listening to the story and had the opportunity to ask lots of questions. At Wescott we believe in the power of reading. Alison certainly helped us with our schools mission to develop a lifelong love of reading.'

- Stephanie Holding, Headteacher at Wescott, Wokingham
